Nutmare began with a simple belief: good food should bring people together. What started with a love for peanut butter and jelly grew into a bigger vision—creating fresh, handcrafted products made with simple ingredients and real care. Inspired by the energy of rock and roll, the edge of horror culture, and the hardworking spirit of Iowa, Nutmare was created to offer something different for Des Moines. Today, every jar is made in small batches using quality ingredients, local sourcing whenever possible, and a commitment to keeping unnecessary junk out of our products. While Nutmare currently focuses on handcrafted peanut butter, the vision reaches far beyond the jar. The long-term goal is to build a gathering place for the community—a simple restaurant built around fresh ingredients, homemade bread, homemade jelly, and food made with purpose. More importantly, it will be a place where customers feel welcome, employees feel valued, and the community comes first. Nutmare isn’t just about selling food. It’s about creating something meaningful, supporting local communities, bringing people together, and giving back whenever possible.
